Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@txnook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Massage therapy performed for therapeutic purposes may be considered a health-related service under Texas law. However, coverage and reimbursement policies vary by insurance provider.

Tx Nook does not bill insurance directly. Clients may be able to:

• Use HSA or FSA funds for massage therapy if permitted by their plan
• Submit receipts and documentation to their insurance provider for potential reimbursement

If required, insurance providers may request a physician referral, diagnostic code, or medical documentation.

Massage therapists cannot diagnose medical conditions. Any diagnosis or medical determination must come from a licensed medical provider.

Clients are responsible for confirming coverage with their insurance provider prior to submitting reimbursement requests.

It really depends on what services you are using and how comfortable you feel. For our Sound Lounge and Hydromassage you can relax in whatever you are wearing. The Zerobody Cryo can be used with any clothing as long as there are no sharp details; the more skin on skin contact the chillier your plunge will be! For the Cocoon Pod, Infrared Sauna, and Red Light if your comfortable we suggest au natural. For our compression therapies we recommend T-shirts/tanks with shorts or snug stretchy fitting clothes.

Your intake form and health history allow us to provide a safe, personalized, and effective experience.

Massage therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Understanding your current health, past injuries, medications, and goals helps us tailor each session to your body’s specific needs—whether that’s relaxation, recovery, or targeted relief.

It also allows us to:
• Identify any contraindications or areas that require caution
• Adjust pressure, techniques, and positioning appropriately
• Ensure your safety when combining massage with wellness services

Without this information, we are unable to properly assess what is safe and appropriate for your session.

If you prefer not to store your information electronically, we are happy to provide a paper intake form as an alternative.

Meditation is a practice of quieting the mind and focusing on the present moment. It can help reduce stress, increase mindfulness, and improve overall well-being. Ready to try? book our Sound Lounge

We insist expectant mothers consult with their healthcare provider and require a letter before enjoying a Hydromassage (on reduced pressure), Compression Boots, Salt Booth, Red Light Therapy (away from abdomen), and the Sound Lounge (Not during first trimester, second and third trimesters only on low setting).

Heat therapies (Cocoon Pod, Infrared Sauna), full body Red Light Therapy, and Zerobody Cryo are not available.

Prenatal Massage sessions are available and tailored to your trimester and comfort.

We generally advise you to wait until 4–6 weeks postpartum or until you are fully cleared by your doctor.

Red Light Therapy: Considered safe and often used to promote healing (for sore nipples or cesarean recovery).

Sound Lounge: Generally safe as it is a non-invasive, relaxing experience.

Salt Booth: Generally considered safe, focusing on respiratory health.

Hydromassage: Safe for relaxation

Compression Boots: Generally safe for aiding circulation and reducing postpartum swelling.

Infrared Sauna & Cocoon Pod: if you are well hydrated and use a reduced heat setting.

  • Tips: stay highly hydrated and avoid if you feel dizzy or feverish.

Zerobody Cryo: Considered safe for relieving pain but can cause vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels). Some anecdotal evidence suggests it may temporarily affect milk supply.

  • Tips: Avoid if you have high blood pressure and keep sessions brief, we recommend doing your plunge first and warming up after in the Infrared Sauna/Cocoon Pod

Avoid Direct Heat on Breasts: if you are experiencing clogged ducts or mastitis.
